Developmental Intellect
It is the display of the hierarchy of knowledge that is progressively acquired through a series of stages.
At an inferior level we find reflective and concrete behavior, together with practical cleverness (already found in superior animals), and concrete intellect. At this level, discursive intelligence enables the understanding of signs and symbols. When this capacity is freed from its affectivity and immediate action (child) the stage of abstract understanding (capacity to distinguish and to classify) is arrived at by conceptual intelligence (hypothetical reasoning - deductive) and formal logic.
INTELLECT: Mental ability to understand (intelligence).
